Gujarat Titans Humiliate SRH as Kagiso Rabada’s Fiery Spell Powers Massive 82-Run Victory

Gujarat Titans delivered a dominant all-round performance to crush Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in Ahmedabad and climb to the top of the IPL 2026 points table.

In a match that carried huge importance for both teams, SRH missed a golden opportunity to move to No.1 after suffering a shocking batting collapse. Chasing a target of 169, Hyderabad were bowled out for just 86 — their lowest total in IPL history.

The emphatic win also gave Gujarat Titans a major boost in net run rate while extending their winning streak to five matches.

Rabada’s Fire Destroys SRH Early

Sunrisers Hyderabad never recovered after Kagiso Rabada’s explosive opening spell ripped apart their top order inside the PowerPlay.

Mohammed Siraj started the damage by dismissing dangerous opener Travis Head for a four-ball duck in the very first over. Rabada then took complete control.

Abhishek Sharma briefly attacked the South African pacer with a six, but Rabada responded immediately by crashing the stumps with a sharp delivery. Ishan Kishan also failed to survive for long as Rabada forced an edge behind the wicket.

SRH’s nightmare continued when Smaran Ravichandran gifted a simple catch in the final over of the PowerPlay, leaving Hyderabad struggling badly at 34/4.

Gujarat Bowlers Completely Dominate

After the early collapse, SRH desperately needed a partnership, but Gujarat’s bowling attack never allowed the visitors to settle.

Salil Arora tried to counterattack with a few boundaries, but Prasidh Krishna ended the brief resistance by forcing an edge behind the stumps.

Jason Holder then delivered a match-winning over by dismissing Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Reddy in quick succession. Klaasen fell to a sharp short ball, while Washington Sundar completed an impressive tumbling catch to remove Nitish.

Pat Cummins attempted some late hitting, but the game had already slipped away. Rashid Khan eventually wrapped up the innings as SRH collapsed for just 86 in 14.5 overs.

Sai Sudharsan, Washington Sundar Rescue Gujarat

Earlier in the evening, Gujarat Titans were under pressure after a slow start on a difficult Ahmedabad pitch.

Shubman Gill failed to convert an early chance and departed cheaply, while Jos Buttler also fell inside the PowerPlay as SRH bowlers controlled the game brilliantly.

At 68/3 midway through the innings, Gujarat looked in trouble before Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar changed the momentum completely.

Sudharsan played a calm and classy knock of 61 off 44 balls, accelerating beautifully after settling in. The left-hander struck crucial boundaries and brought up his half-century in just 38 deliveries.

After Sudharsan’s dismissal, Washington Sundar took charge during the death overs. The all-rounder smashed a brilliant fifty off only 32 balls and punished SRH badly in the final overs.

A costly penultimate over helped Gujarat cross the 150-run mark before finishing strongly on 168/5.
