Aaron Jones Charged with Anti-Corruption Breaches, Provisionally Suspended from Cricket

USA cricketer Aaron Jones charged in anti-corruption case

USA cricketer Aaron Jones has been charged with five breaches of anti-corruption regulations by Cricket West Indies and the ICC on Wednesday, leading to his provisional suspension from all forms of cricket with immediate effect.

USA batter Aaron Jones has been formally charged with five violations of anti-corruption regulations under both Cricket West Indies (CWI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC), the sport’s governing bodies confirmed in a media release on Wednesday (January 28).

The majority of the allegations are linked to incidents during the 2023–24 Bim10 tournament, which falls under the CWI Anti-Corruption Code. Two of the charges also relate to international fixtures and are being pursued under the ICC’s Anti-Corruption Code.

Under the CWI framework, Jones has been accused of fixing or attempting to fix certain aspects of matches in the Bim10 competition. He is also alleged to have failed to report approaches inviting corrupt conduct and to have not cooperated fully with a reasonable investigation carried out by an authorised anti-corruption official.

Separately, the ICC has charged Jones with failing to disclose complete details of approaches or invitations to engage in corrupt activity to its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). He has also been accused of obstructing an ACU investigation by allegedly concealing or tampering with information relevant to the case.

The ICC indicated that the matter is part of a broader investigation and said further charges against other individuals could follow. Jones has been provisionally suspended from all forms of cricket with immediate effect. He has been given 14 days from January 28, 2026, to respond to the charges. The ICC added that no further comment would be made until the disciplinary process is concluded.

Jones, 31, has represented the United States in 100 international matches, comprising 52 ODIs and 48 T20Is. He has also been a regular presence on the T20 circuit, featuring for the Seattle Orcas in Major League Cricket and for the St Lucia Kings in the Caribbean Premier League. Notably, he top-scored for the Kings in the final of their title-winning campaign in 2024. His most recent appearance came in the Abu Dhabi T10 league in November 2025.
