Kolkata Knight Riders kept their IPL 2026 playoff hopes alive after producing a stunning batting performance against Gujarat Titans at Eden Gardens.
In a high-scoring thriller packed with sixes, dropped catches and momentum swings, KKR defeated Gujarat Titans by 29 runs after posting a gigantic 247/2.
The biggest star of the night was Finn Allen.
The explosive New Zealand batter destroyed Gujarat’s bowling attack with a breathtaking 93 off just 35 balls and completely changed the direction of the match.
Finn Allen Punishes Gujarat Titans
Gujarat Titans were left regretting multiple mistakes in the field, especially one costly dropped catch that completely shifted the game.
Mohammed Siraj dropped Finn Allen in the seventh over, and KKR instantly made GT pay the price.
What followed was pure destruction.
Allen smashed sixes all around Eden Gardens and turned the middle overs into a nightmare for Gujarat bowlers. Rashid Khan, Arshad Khan, Jason Holder and Sai Kishore all struggled badly against his fearless hitting.

While Allen dominated headlines, Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Cameron Green ensured the pressure never disappeared for Gujarat Titans.
Raghuvanshi played a classy unbeaten knock of 82 off 44 balls, while Green smashed an unbeaten 52 from only 28 deliveries.
Both batters attacked aggressively after Allen’s dismissal and pushed KKR close to the 250-run mark.

Despite the huge target, Gujarat Titans refused to surrender easily.
Shubman Gill played a captain’s innings and scored a brilliant 85 off 49 balls. Jos Buttler added a dangerous 57, while Sai Sudharsan returned after an injury scare to score an unbeaten half-century.
At one stage, Gujarat looked capable of pulling off an unbelievable chase.
However, KKR bowlers finally regained control during the crucial middle overs.
Narine and Varun Shift Momentum
Sunil Narine once again delivered under pressure for Kolkata Knight Riders.
The experienced all-rounder removed Shubman Gill at a crucial stage and conceded only five runs in a game-changing over late in the chase.
Varun Chakaravarthy also played a huge role by controlling Gujarat’s scoring during the middle overs, which eventually increased the required run rate beyond control.
That slowdown proved decisive.
Injury Scares During the Match
The match also saw injury concerns for both teams.
Sai Sudharsan was hit painfully on the elbow while batting and temporarily left the field before returning later in the innings. Meanwhile, Matheesha Pathirana suffered calf discomfort during his debut appearance for KKR and could not complete his spell.

The victory keeps Kolkata Knight Riders alive in the IPL 2026 playoff race, although they remain outside the top four for now.
