Teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken another massive step in his rapidly rising cricket career after being selected in the India A squad for the upcoming one-day tri-series in Sri Lanka.
The 15-year-old prodigy has been included in the 15-member squad that will compete against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A in June 2026. The tournament will be played in a double round-robin format before the top two teams qualify for the final.
Tilak Varma has been appointed captain of the India A side, while Riyan Parag will serve as vice-captain.
Sooryavanshi’s Incredible Rise Continues
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s selection comes after a stunning rise over the last year.
The youngster first grabbed national attention during IPL 2025 when he smashed a breathtaking 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans, instantly becoming one of the most talked-about young players in Indian cricket.
Since then, his growth has been extraordinary.
Earlier this year, Sooryavanshi played a major role in India’s Under-19 World Cup triumph and produced a sensational 175-run innings in the final against England.
Now in IPL 2026, the teenage star has elevated his game even further.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has emerged as one of the biggest stars of IPL 2026 despite being only 15 years old.
The aggressive batter has already scored 440 runs in 11 innings this season while maintaining a jaw-dropping strike rate of 236.56.
Even more impressively, he currently leads the tournament in six-hitting with 40 maximums — a remarkable achievement considering the quality of bowlers in the IPL.
His fearless batting style and ability to dominate both pace and spin have made him one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.
India A Squad Features IPL 2026 Performers
The India A squad also includes several standout performers from IPL 2026.
Players like Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Suryansh Shedge have all been rewarded for their strong performances this season.
The series in Sri Lanka is expected to become an important platform for young Indian cricketers trying to push for senior national team selection.
India A Tour Schedule
The tri-series will begin on June 9 with India A taking on Sri Lanka A.
The final is scheduled to be played on June 21 after the completion of the double round-robin stage. The white-ball matches will be held in Dambulla.
India A will also play two multi-day matches against Sri Lanka A later in the tour, although the squad for those red-ball games will be announced separately.
