Bangladesh Crush Pakistan as Nahid Rana’s Fiery 5-Wicket Spell Seals Historic Mirpur Win

Bangladesh produced another memorable performance against Pakistan as pace sensation Nahid Rana ripped through the visitors with a stunning five-wicket haul to secure a thrilling 104-run victory in Mirpur on Tuesday. The win handed Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the Test series and marked their third straight Test win over Pakistan since 2024.

The final day remained tense until the last session, with Pakistan still hoping for a miracle chase after debutant Abdullah Fazal played a brilliant knock under pressure. Chasing 268 runs on a difficult fifth-day pitch, Pakistan entered the final session needing 152 more runs with seven wickets remaining.

Fazal looked composed throughout his innings and frustrated Bangladesh with smart strokeplay and calm defense. The youngster added an important 48-run stand alongside Salman Ali Agha to keep Pakistan alive in the game.

However, Bangladesh completely changed the momentum moments after the final session began.

Taijul Islam delivered a massive breakthrough by trapping Abdullah Fazal LBW with a sharply turning delivery. Although the umpire initially rejected the appeal, Bangladesh reviewed successfully and ball-tracking confirmed three reds.

Pakistan suffered another huge blow immediately afterward as Taskin Ahmed dismissed Salman Ali Agha in the very next over. Suddenly, Bangladesh regained complete control of the Test match.

With Pakistan still hoping to survive for a draw, Bangladesh handed the ball to Nahid Rana — and the young fast bowler produced a spell Pakistan will not forget anytime soon.

Rana first removed Saud Shakeel after forcing an edge behind the wicket. He then delivered one of the best balls of the match to Mohammad Rizwan. Bowling at express pace, Rana sent down a deadly nip-backer at 147 kph that crashed into Rizwan’s stumps as the Pakistan wicketkeeper looked completely beaten.

The Mirpur crowd erupted as Bangladesh sensed victory.

Taijul Islam later trapped Hasan Ali LBW, while Nahid Rana continued his dominance by dismissing Noman Ali through another successful review. Rana then wrapped up the game by removing Shaheen Afridi to complete a sensational five-wicket haul.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh strengthened their position with valuable runs before declaring at 240/9. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with a crucial 87-run innings, while Mominul Haque added an important half-century.

Pakistan’s chase began poorly after Imam-ul-Haq fell before Lunch, but Abdullah Fazal continued to impress in his debut Test. The young batter attacked both pacers and spinners confidently and reached his fifty in style.

Despite Fazal’s brave resistance, Bangladesh’s bowlers proved too strong on a wearing Mirpur surface.

The victory is another massive moment for Bangladesh cricket as they continue building confidence against Pakistan in the longest format of the game. Nahid Rana’s fiery spell, combined with Bangladesh’s disciplined bowling attack, ensured the hosts finished the match strongly in front of their home fans.
